A wonderful layering of imagery piles up in this drawing, an celebration of the window displays of Chinatown, San Francisco.

Of the rust red hue of this and other drawings Carlos has said that restricting his color palette was a deliberate move inspired by the hues of some of the earliest markings, which employed limited colors - the blacks of charcoals and the red rust of clays.
